Default Game popularity

Hey guys,

I played GW long time ago, 4 years probably, and im thinking of returning to the game, but i heard that Guild Wars is almost dead, popularity is so low, you cant even gather 4 players for quest in a day time.

Just wanted to cofirm this rumor to be true or false, couse since its a PvP oriented game, playing it without other players is senseless

Surely its being played, but is there a problem finding people for a quest or arena etc?

Well obviously it's not as active as it was 4 years ago, but it's not dead.

Also you don't need people to do quests, you have henchmen and heroes and except for a couple of endgame things everything can be done solo.

I don't PvP so I can't answer that but you could join a guild and I think that should solve that issue.

Thanks for the anwser,

Yea, i know that i can go questing with henchman, but whats the point in mmorpg if you play solo. It is much more interesting personaly for me to play with others.

Ofcourse i dont expect Gw to be as popular as wow, just wanted to ask, if it will be a problem finding people for pvp, especially for a new player.

Seems to me that you care more about players in pvp than in pve, and in pve it can be very difficult indeed to find some people to quest with... not so much because no one plays, but because many chose to use heroes.

However in pvp the option to use hero or henchies is not avaiable so have to use people. Been doing Random Arena for a change and that seems lively enough, Alliance Battles varies some... very dead at certain times of day and just a little more life at others.
As for highend pvp I don't really know how it looks since I never even been there, but Im sure some still enjoy that side of gw... however finding a guild that assemble teams might be needed for it.

To socialize with other people who have a common interest while playing the game, of course. That does not necessarily have to mean teaming up with them (which, really, reduces socialization as getting the group to pause when you feel like chattting is kind of difficult most of the time, especially in pick-up groups - where you will be whined at for holding everyone back).

If you want top party with people PvE, do the zaishen mission/bounty/vanquish every day. Other than there are not much people to play with.

As said, find a PvP guild. You can look in our Guild Connections section under Guild Looking For (check back several pages) and/or post your own Player Looking for thread. Explain what you are looking to do and list any experience you have.

There is also Guru's GvG program which might introduce you to other less-experienced PvP players.

Searching for PvP teams is difficult without a guild. You should look into joining one.

It helps to have all campaigns/expansions unlocked so you have access to skills.

Daily Zaishen Quest brings life to missions/quests/pvp for a day. It isn't hard and with a guild it is easier.

If you are looking for active players, join a guild:

Wow, 4 years ago...alot has happened since then

Do you have NF and EoTn? to be able to get in a high-end sc guild you would need to catch up on alot of the meta's and develope some characters...

there are quite a few guilds out there (besides high-end) that have alot of active players of various skill levels that are always recruiting people.

My advice, make sure you have all the games, if you want to get anywhere fun in this game or to be able to eventually join a sc/h-e guild, join an active "normal" guild and watch and learn whats going on.

I, too, stopped playing a few years back. (I started playing WoW, I'm sorry. ;- I checked in recently just to see what was new and... Well, I spend my time after work every day playing GW instead of WoW now. I've logged like 200 hours in the game in the past 3 weeks, that's how much I've been interested in the changes I've missed.

However, I suppose it's worth mentioning I'm mostly a solo player and I'm trying to fill up my HoM.

Heroes can be and are used in high-end PvE, though that's really the only place you see people grouping up. And most of the time, they do for speed clears.

Most of the game's population is in Nightfall and EOTN now, so if you want to play with other people then yes, you may want to pick those up.
